I am a psychoanalyst in private practice based in Vancouver, Canada. I predominantly work with the Lacanian approach. My journey into psychoanalysis began in 2010 when I commenced my own analysis. Subsequently, I engaged in various theoretical and clinical activities at different psychoanalytic institutes in Tehran, Toronto, Los Angeles, and Vancouver. Since 2020, I have been a member of the Lacan Salon, and I have served as a board member since April 2023. Additionally, I supervise my clinical work on a regular basis.
I work with individuals from diverse backgrounds, addressing a wide range of questions and aspirations. Psychoanalysis offers an unconventional method for exploring one’s discontent in life. In psychoanalytic treatment, the analysand (the individual seeking therapy) engages in talking with the analyst. This interaction can take place in-person, via audio, or video calls. Unlike ordinary conversation, there's no pressure for coherence or articulation. Instead, the aim is to speak freely, like a passenger on a train, observing your train of thoughts like passing scenery from a window of a train, and verbalizing them in the most immediate way that comes to you. This simple yet noble method which was originally suggested by Sigmund Freud -free association- has a transformative effect: it changes you.
Psychoanalysis doesn't offer predetermined solutions for navigating the world. Rather, it facilitates a deepening of understanding regarding one's questions and dreams, helping individuals discover their unique compass for navigating life, a life in which one is not following others agendas but one’s own desire: a truthful life.
As an analyst, my role is to provide a safe and nonjudgmental space for you to speak, and to listen attentively, and to help you hear yourself. I may ask questions or encourage further exploration. Through this radical act of listening, openings emerge, leading to new perspectives and shifts in speech and life. The essence of the therapeutic relationship lies in speaking and desire.
I provide services in both English and Farsi, catering to individuals from diverse linguistic backgrounds. Everything discussed in psychoanalytic treatment is strictly confidential. Psychoanalysis can assist individuals dealing with anxiety, various forms of addiction, grief, depression, or unexplained bodily pains that cannot be resolved through conventional medical treatments available within the healthcare system.
